script.aculo.us provides you with easy-to-use, compatible and, ultimately, totally cool JavaScript libraries to make your web sites and web applications fly, Web 2.0 style.
So what's it mean to me?
Scriptaculous makes it easy to apply effects to page elements and to perform AJAX-style communications so you don't have to constantly reload pages for things like submitting forms. This mean much less data goes across the wires (or airwaves, if you're WiFi-enabled), and makes your website behave more like a desktop application.
Of course you can go overboard with it and wind up with a cheesy mess of unusable code, but used properly, great things can happen.
